1. Agreement

By creating an account or using Kora Study (“Kora”, “Service”), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Who may use Kora

  • You must be at least 16 years old.
  • You must provide accurate account information and keep your login secure.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account.

If you use Kora on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation.

3. The Service

Kora provides AI-assisted study tools, which may include:

  • Uploading course materials and organising modules
  • Study plans, flashcards, notes, knowledge tools
  • Practice exams and review aids
  • Ask Kora chat and related AI features
  • Optional paid plans with higher limits or unlocked features

Features may change, improve, or be discontinued as we develop the product. We may impose fair-use, rate, or spend limits to protect the Service and other users.

4. Accounts

  • Keep your password confidential.
  • Notify us promptly of unauthorised access.
  • You may delete your account in the product. Deletion removes associated study data from our primary systems as described in the Privacy Policy (subject to backups and legal retention).

5. Subscriptions and billing

  • Paid plans are billed through Polar (merchant of record).
  • Prices, taxes, and billing intervals are shown at checkout and may change for future renewals with notice as required by law or Polar’s terms.
  • Manage or cancel renewals via the billing portal linked from the app (Settings → Billing) or Polar’s customer portal.
  • Refunds are handled according to Polar’s policies and applicable law, unless we state otherwise for a specific offer.

Free plans may have limits (e.g. modules, AI messages, exam generation). Exceeding limits may block features until the period resets or you upgrade.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Break the law or infringe others’ rights (including copyright in course materials you do not have rights to use)
  • Upload malware, scrape the Service abusively, or attempt to bypass security or rate limits
  • Harass others, abuse AI features to generate harmful content, or attempt to extract model weights/system prompts at scale
  • Resell or provide the Service as a competing hosted product without our written permission
  • Misrepresent AI output as human-authored official university marking or as guaranteed exam answers

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of content you upload (“User Content”). You grant us a limited licence to host, process, display, and transmit User Content only as needed to operate the Service for you, including sending relevant excerpts to AI and infrastructure providers.

You confirm you have the rights needed to upload User Content (e.g. your own notes or materials you are allowed to use for personal study).

8. AI features — no academic guarantee

  • Kora uses third-party AI (e.g. Anthropic). Outputs can be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your course.
  • You remain responsible for how you use outputs in coursework, exams, and professional decisions.
  • Practice exams and mark schemes are study aids, not official assessments.
  • We do not guarantee grades, admissions outcomes, or academic integrity decisions by your institution. Follow your institution’s rules on AI use.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, branding, software, and our original content are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, reverse engineer, or reuse them except as allowed by these Terms or applicable law.

10. Third-party services

The Service depends on third parties (hosting, auth, AI, payments, email, analytics). Their outages or changes may affect availability. Payment processing is subject to Polar’s terms.

11. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that AI outputs will be correct.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers; in those places, disclaimers apply only to the extent allowed.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IN ANY 12-MONTH PERIOD IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THAT PERIOD, OR (B) USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (e.g. certain consumer rights, fraud, or death/personal injury caused by negligence where such rules apply).

13. Termination

You may stop using Kora and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for Terms violations, non-payment, risk to the Service, or if we discontinue the product (with reasonable notice where practicable).

14. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms. We will update the “Last updated” date and may notify you of material changes. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance, except where local law requires a different process.
